Unveiling Eartha: My Experience at Harlem Perfume Co's Fragrance Launch Event

As someone who truly admires the artistry and story behind a fragrance, I was beyond elated to have been invited to the Harlem Perfume Co launch event for their newest fragrance, Eartha. Inspired by the legendary Eartha Kitt, this fragrance is particularly special because they were able to partner with an amazing perfumer Catherine Selig and Eartha's daughter Kitt Shapiro. I thought that was an amazing touch because, no one forgets the scent and aura of their mother. Upon receiving the invitation, I was honored and so excited to see what this would smell like, and I have to say it's nothing that I expected.

The legendary Eartha Kitt was an actress, singer, activist, dancer and songwriter. She was unapologetic of who she was, knew what she wanted, and was willing to fight for what she believed in. With all that she has accomplished in mind, how do you capture these beautiful elements to create a one of a kind fragrance? Teri, the Ceo of Harlem Perfume Co, Kitt Shapiro and Catherine Selig was the perfect team to develop a scent that is truly timeless, just like Eartha.

Here are the notes:

Top Notes: Smoked Rose, Sichuan Pepper, Liquid Amber, Cali Lemon

Middle Notes: Labdanum, Saffron, Olibanum, French Jasmine

Base Notes: Oud, Guaiacwood, Rosewood, Earthy Moss

Upon the initial spray I am welcomed with the mix of florals and citrus, and although the Oud note is present, it's not offensive at all. It dries down very soft, but still memorable. This is what I like to call an "embrace" scent. As soon as someone is near or hugs you, expect the interaction to linger as they inhale the unforgettable scent and prepare for the immediate question: "What are you wearing."

Capturing The Content!

This was the first event that Harlem Perfume Co launched and it was an amazing success! I felt honored to be included and recognized for my content amongst other wonderful creators. We had the opportunity to smell the entire collection, in addition to the other beautiful fragrances. It was wonderful to hear the details surrounding the intentionality of the fragrance, and be around people who love fragrances just as much as I do! This was also a clear reminder to continue doing what you love because you never know who is watching and where your dedication will lead you.
